MISSION
Black Capital’s mission is to build wealth for the black community by democratizing access to Venture Capital.
WHY
Currently, less than 2% of capital is invested in black founders, who have historically been overlooked by traditional VCs.
Black Capital was created with the vision to elevate communities of color to gain financial independence, build wealth, and decrease economic inequality in this country.
WHO
Kevin Johnson
is the Founder and Managing Partner at Black Capital, his responsibilities include fundraising, deal flow, deal selection, and portfolio growth.
Prior to his investing career, Kevin served as a two-term Mayor of Sacramento and was an NBA All-Star for the Phoenix Suns. Before taking public office, Kevin founded and served as CEO of St. HOPE, a community development corporation focused on public education and economic development in Oak Park, the community he grew up in. Personally, Kevin serves as an L.P. in several leading Private Equity funds.
Julian Love
is a Venture Partner, his responsibilities include marketing & branding and strategic partnerships.
Julian began his career in GE’s Financial Management Program, then he transitioned to EY’s Advisory services Finance Transformation practice. Most recently he served as CFO of St. HOPE, a community development corporation focused on education and economic development. Julian is currently in is currently pursuing his MBA at Yale University.
